Before I married his daughter, I recall trying to get in touch with Frankie DiMatteo so I can explain how Mafialife and Mob Candy need to be together. I emailed and did not get a reply back in 2 weeks, so I am thinking ‘WHAT THE FUCK”. After my rude follow up asking why I did not get a reply back, a person by the name of Tyrone Christopher writes back. “Uncle Frankie will see you now”. Are these guys fucking kidding me? No they were not. I learned right away why the staff keep Frankie far away from business meetings. And, it’s simple. This guy is a knockaround guy from the streets, who knows exactly how to publish and make money, but he is not the man you want talking to the people with money. Not because he is dumb, or because he cannot handle the pressure. He can pretty much handle anything the business or personal world throws at him. He is a street survivor. And he keeps it way too real for the normal population to understand. And, that may be the problem.
Frankie DiMatteo believes in speaking with actions, and not words. But, when he does speak, he would much rather get right to the point, with the least amount of words as possible. And, when your trying to sell an ad spot, or hook an investor, you just do not need “Hey, this is what I got to offer you, this is what we expect from you, either your in, or your out, let me know!” as your lead dialog. It just doesn’t cut it in the professional corporate business world. Besides, it’s not very friendly of a first impression. I must say, that when you get to know Frankie, he is one of the most giving, and loving men to those who he considers ‘with us’. But if your not ‘with him’, then you do not usually have the best dealings with him. You would never know from looking at him, or meeting him for the first time, that he is a warm person who will give a person in need the last dime he has, shirt off his back, or a place to stay in his home. Get on his bad side, and your in trouble.
He takes after his father, Ricky “Silverfox” DiMatteo. One of the few contract hitmen who worked for multiple crime families, who survived to retire a life after the ‘business’. After being shot, in the face, and in the chest on more then 1 occasion, living til he was 74. It was never the game that killed him, but a botched operation on the hospital bed over a foot infection that laid him to rest a few years ago. I never had the honors to meet him, and the last words I ever heard him say to me, was a message to me after he found out his grand daughter who was unhappily married, ran away with me. You can click here to listen. It can give you a tiny sense of the root of ‘The Family’, when you get on their bad side. Luckily, I was able to get into the good graces, and break bread. And, til this day years later, me and Frankie’s daughter live very happy with 2 kids.
My father-in-law Frankie D worked in the porn business, distributing, and working with publishers of ‘screw’ magazine. Over the last years, with the help of his immediate family, and friends, he has published many issues of ‘Mob Candy Magazine’.I t’s been mom and pop since day 1, and it can be a fustrating ride. Frankie pours it out in the next issue of the magazine, in a venting rant that will blow you away. We will be featured on the season 2 of ‘Mob Wives’, and we have 2 mob wives with their own cover of upcoming magazines. Renee Graziano’s cover has already been revealed, but guess who will be next. It’s about time to take it to the next level. As soon as we find a good investor, your gonna see a new level of Mob Candy brand, that you have never imagined. So, if your an investor, and your reading this, now is a perfect time to take this 4-5 year endeavor into the future of Mob Enthusiasms. Plans to do a theme food, and bar joint, reality TV, and much more are being planned already, and are ready to rock!
He is now an author of a book called ‘Brooklyn Gangsters’, which is doing very well (click here to check it out). They have teamed up to create a unique and personal account of life inside one of the most notorious mob crews of all time in the upcoming book The President Street Boys: Growing Up With The Gallo Crew.
